Keynote Speaker: Carl Hart , professor and author of Drug Use for Grown-Ups

A one-day Ohio Harm Reduction Conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Granville Inn in Granville, Ohio.

Carl Hart

Columbia University professor Carl Hart, author of Drug Use for Grown-ups: Chasing Liberty in the Land of Fear, will be the keynote speaker at 1 p.m. The event will include discussions of psychedelics, the criminalization of pregnant women, the ballot initiative to legalize cannabis and what’s next for harm reduction in Ohio.

A limited number of seats are available for the event. Registration costs $35, which includes lunch, plus coffee and drinks all day.

Harm Reduction Ohio is the sponsor of the gathering. The meeting is a scaled down version of a two-day conference that had been planned previously. The demands of other harm reduction work forced Harm Reduction Ohio to scale back to a one-day gathering.

Granville is located in central Ohio  — about 30 miles east of Columbus — so it’s a reasonable drive from everywhere in Ohio. Harm Reduction Ohio was founded here and works from four offices above a coffee shop in Granville.

An informal gathering that evening will follow the day’s events.
